We kicked off 2021’s limited release barrel series with our Best Friend Bourbon finished in Madeira Wine Barrels for 8 months.
A big focus of 2021’s releases was exploring the compliments of red wine in whiskey, such as the the Syrah and the Ruby Port Wine finish, but what makes the Madeira finish unique is that it’s the only one coupled with our Best Friend Bourbon. The Bourbon’s sweet notes of honey comb and cornbread are emphasized by the rich and hearty body of a Madeira. Proofing in at 104, this finish is a bold sipper with notes of dark fruit, toasted almonds, and dry oak.

Sourced all the way from a cooperage in Esmoriz, Portugal called Tanoria Josafer, we picked these barrels because the location has strong connections with the wine as the Madeira islands right off the coast of Portugal. On top of the historical ties, the craftsmanship of cooperage has been passed down through their family for generations.
This finished was purchased by the Whole Foods of Boulder, CO & Highlands Ranch, CO, and can only be found at those two locations.
